#Code-Black

For millions of us it is despicable to think that in a world of such enlightenment there are those who would still try to enslave us to their ideals. We focus on terrorist; we spend billions trying to defeat them only to see them survive the blast of guns and missals eluding capture from the powerful and mighty. We colorized the system to alert us to the dangers of the moment sending signals that sometime confuses our mind.

Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue and green are the alert sent to keep us aware of the dangerous possibilities. This is the Homeland Security Advisory System; the means to give information about the risk of terrorist acts to Federal, State and local authorities and to the American people. Sometimes we listen but it is not really sinking in? With the money and the mite of a nation of power we take things for granted.

While it is my intent to stay alert to the threats and dangers that looms on the horizon, we all face a greater danger that is prevalent among us. The colors of the system which engages us to think has forgotten about the one danger that we face and are threatening to put us on a path of self-destruction from within.

Black is not known as a code; it is not given as a terror alert threat. However it is high on the list for alert in our neighborhood, cities and towns. It is on the news constantly and it has become a common cry. Another black is being gun down by the law enforcement officers without any consequences to their barbaric acts. There are no justice and no penalty being faced by those who commit these despicable acts of injustice to the one they swore to serve and protect.

In our society code black is used to describe a situation in which a deceased person is admitted to an ER. It is also an emergency involving personal threats to safety of one or more persons in a hospital or other public places. While this includes assaults, confrontations, hostage situation and threats of personal injury or attacks, this is just another code that describes “Blacks” and the threats we face each day.

In lithe of the trends that are prevailing in our nation it is impossible to think of the past gains for social justice and the trends which threaten to reverse those gains. To those who would take the time to make things right and be of an asset to their communities I would say thank you! However there are those who are bent on destruction; whose goal it seems is to bring back the wild, Wild West of anarchy and bigotry. They have become trigger happy and ready to shoot without notice. This is what we face! Can anyone forbid us to take a stand against barbarians? A new alert needs be added to the terror threats system! # Code-black! We should not be left to fend for ourselves being killed at random without the notice of the Home Land Security. A new code needs to be added; this will help us to be aware of the dangers before another young life is taken. #code Black! Let us join in the chorus and echo the sentiments of the masses; “Hands up don’t shoot; I can’t breathe!”

Not all Law Enforcement Officers are on a path to terror and bigotry; many are loving, caring and committed to their job of serve and protect. I do not support the brutal assignation that has taken place. They are somebody’s son, Husband, father, brother, nephew children, grandsons and in-laws.

Let us all unite to eradicate the conflict of distrust and promote peace and justice for all! However until we are noticed, unless there are alerts we cannot sit idly by while ignoring the dangers that is upon us. We need a code to alert us; we will stand for what is right and just! # Code- black.

It is not a joke; we are facing extinction. Who will help stop the bleeding? I believe it is important to stand together with one voice just like freedom fighters in the pass. They marched, suffered abuse, were beaten and humiliated for the cause of justice for all. Where are the voices of those who have gained from the struggle? To those who have gained from affirmative action, you are sitting under the umbrella of freedom from those who have paid the price. “Wake-up; it will not be too long before you lose what you thought you have gained!” Join the march for freedom and justice for all!  #Code-Black!

Is there anybody listening?

Not too long ago I started to think of the many trends and the overly excessive behavior that pervades our society; it causes me to contemplate with a deep sense of inner responsiveness towards the things that set in motion the things that are going on. I am confronted with the question; that unbearable voice filled with the emotions I heard so many times in the form of a song by a famous singer song writer; “What’s going on?” Are there any answers? Is there anybody listening? Though solemn, it is the cry for notability; a cry for justice, peace and satisfaction that often goes unnoticed until it is too late! This is a cry for help!

In my quest for answers I happened upon a song with the same theme. This draws me to look more closely at the lyrics, investigating the heartbeat of the ones who was so intense with passion; they too were left with the question seeking to find an answer.

Here are the words of the song which is a collaborative effort of Tate, Geoffrey W / Degarmo, Christopher.

“Long ago there was a dream, had to make a choice or two. Leaving all I loved behind, for what nobody knew, Stepped out on the stage, alive under lights and judging eyes. Now the applause has died and I can dream again.

Is there anybody listening? Is there anyone who smiles without a mask? What’s behind the words? Images, they know will please us I’ll take what’s real, bring up the lights. Is there anybody listening? Is there anyone that sees what’s going on? Read between the lines; criticize the words they’re selling.

Think for yourself and feel the walls become sand beneath your feet. You and I long to live like the wind upon the water. If we close our eyes, we’ll maybe realize there’s more to life than what we have known and I can’t believe, I’ve spent so long Living lies, I knew were wrong inside I’ve just begun to see the light.”

This is the twenty-first century yet just like the last and centuries before we are all asking the same questions hoping to get an answer. We have reached the moon and conquered space. We have made many advances in history but still we are at the same place! Laws are legislated and privileges have been taken away trying to make the society better through whatever means but the cry has not lessened, it is just the same. Is there anybody listening?

If you turn on the light does this sound familiar? Every day and everywhere questions have been asked but no one ever answer. Kids are succumbing to the act of bullying with cries for help but nobody is listening until it’s too late. Society is in a fix with trouble looming on every side. Gun violence is everywhere yet those who can do something to make a change  have been bought by wealthy capitalist. The poor and disenfranchised who give them their jobs have been the objects of rejection. The wealthy and famous; the rich and the poor all meet at the same place of despair with the same longing yearning and empty hearts. The question they all ask; is anybody listening?

Behind the many smiles and laughter lies the pain. It is too unbearable to stay; for some the solution though rear is the only way out of despair. No one wants to hurt any because the consequences are too hard to bear but the fact that remains; we all go along daily not noticing the scare the folks are facing. The question I am sure that prevails on their mind is one that is most prominent to most; is there anybody listening?

What is happening around us? What in the world is going on? It seems that there is no more need to be concern because it is happening so often. Have we returned to the dark ages where barbarians rule? You don’t have to answer the question but just take a deep breath and look at our society and listen to the news! Men and women boys and girls are crying out for attention but there is no one there to help. We may express our feeling through the lyrics of a song and we all can patronize but the question remains.

Why the violence; why the dysfunction? The cell is not the answer! In a civil society let us all lend a hand and put our heads together and listen then we will understand. Don’t look on with a scorn do something now! Let us save our brothers and sisters, our sons and daughters. Let them know that we are listening! Volunteer in your areas of expertise and be an example. Let them know that you are listening and that you care!

Violence in our society

Here we go again! Another brother has fallen and the system has turned its back in the name of justice. How long will this perpetuate? Are we still living in the slavery generation when we as a people does not matter we are treated as animals taken to the stall to be slaughtered? The question is out but the answer seems to be far and the solution is nowhere to be found!

Let’s examine the facts and see if there can be a solution to this mess that is engulfing our society and turning men into animals. We can all agree that violence has overwhelming us. Every day in the media the report is out and it is consuming us like a terminal cancer of the baser sort. We are calling out for help and common justice. It is funny that no one is concern until it reaches our door and then we put all efforts into solving rather than preventing the problem.

I might be bias but the news of the pass weeks has left me thinking that life does not matter especially when you belong to one group or culture! It is OK to take a life because you will be exonerated by a lawyer who is able to manipulate the law to their benefit. It does not matter the truth! The truth is irrelevant. What matter is the twist of the system to win a case while disregarding the truth!

Just as a man think in his heart so is he; that’s what the good book says. This nation thinks violence so it has become violent. The laws give aid to the trauma of it all. Today we are exposed to more violence than ever; the media encourage it! It seems that the greatest exposure to violence comes from television. This violence was unimaginable just a few years ago. Now we are labeled and treated like we do not belong to this planet; do what you will because you are protected by those who pledge their resources to make sure it alright!

My question is, are we vigilantes who use the law to our own advantage? Can I wear a hoody without being a target? Can we go shopping without being followed or can we go shopping without being ignored because of someone’s presumption of who we are or what we can afford! I know that this might not make much sense but the facts are there and the jury is out! It’s time to see things for what they are. We have all been targets everywhere; in the workplace, in public and private places. The time has come to end the cycle!

It might be time to heal but healing can’t take place without forgiveness. It is not an easy process but we have to follow in the steps of our master and ask ourselves; what would Jesus do? How would you face the issue and what would you do? This is a question that can ignite a million answers. Think it over and post your answers!

Attitude; it can affect your Aptitude and Altitude

I am tired of this therefore I am not going to put any more effort into it! I have had enough I am through I give up and no one can cause me to change my mind! (Attitude)

I am demonstrating situations that regularly affects us. This scenario is about our attitude and how we are affected at odd moments. Though it might happen subconsciously, we dare to admit it; we are guilty. What is an attitude? Do you need an explanation? I thought that you had one!

You may say, not me I am always looking on the bright side of life! There you go with that self-righteous attitude. Oh! so you did not think that I could sense it? Well, think again because attitude is something we display regularly!

Attitude is manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., with regard to a person or thing; tendency or orientation, especially of the mind: a negative attitude; group attitudes. It does not matter how you put it we all have attitudes. We display them from time to time!

Let’s look at attitudes that are commonly being displayed. There are negative and positives with favor or disfavor. How we chose to display them is base on the objects; person, place or things. Can you imagine forming an attitude about a person base on the things we heard about them or our concept of who we thought they were? I would say that it’s time to define our own attitudes and make real evaluation that is distinctive. Drop the self test indulgence and make a true concept of who we are.

Our attitude affects us regularly. Attitudes can be displayed explicitly (i.e., deliberately formed) or implicitly (i.e., subconscious) this can create discussion for or against but the fact is, this happens. How about your body language at your work place or even at home or at church? You don’t have to answer this but we have all been there and know the result and certainly the answer. Implicit and explicit behavior tends to affect individual behavior in different ways. There might not any strong association with each other however sometimes they are. These relationships are sometimes poorly understood.

Let’s not fool ourselves, people will be promoted or demoted in relations to their personal behavior. Did you get looked over for that promotion that you so badly needed? Ever ask the reason or did you play the blame game? Take a look at what you have done and make corrections. The right attitude attracts the right possibilities! You will not be able to fake it; change your brand and get rewarded for your good attitude.

We know about one’s attitude but what are the relations between attitude and aptitude? You might say there is no relationship! Look closely at aptitude. It is the inner ability for learning, suitability, that intelligence and characteristic that affects our mental ability. Do we have those qualities or are those the condition that helps to shape our attitudes? This is a question that is engaging and as such we might not get a very good answer. The question though thought-provoking might make up for a form of conversation.

The dictionary’s description: Aptitudeease in learning or understanding; intelligence. The condition or quality of being apt. (Free Dictionary) If we have the aptitude, we would look at things a bit different the next time we are approached with the decisions we face. Our aptitude will help us with our attitude which helps us to get that promotion we so badly needed. To me there is always a connection between aptitude and attitude! The more we are well-rounded the better we adapt to situations without displaying behavior in a negative manner.

We like to quote the lyrics to the song which says, “I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky.” I like this song because it shows itself in a positive light. It gives me a sense of purpose and motives me to think positively about the situations I encounters. However when you contrast the attitudes and aptitudes we sometimes see the isolation and the insulation that keeps us apart. The positive behavior can be drowned out by negative attitudes which affect our altitude.

Human behavior is sometimes complex; however we can reach great height in relationships. If we are souring to the sky and we really believe that we can fly; don’t let your attitude define your aptitude or keep you from achieving altitude.

Decisions; is it yours to make?

When I was a child I thought as a child but when I became a man I put away childish things! This is what we were thought or expect to happen but it might not be always the case. I know that this is already a bit controversial. However I would like to play with your minds for a while and cause you to think seriously about this.

As a child you are controlled by your parents or guardians. We depend almost entirely on them for help in making the right decisions. When we go wrong they are there to correct us and help us to overcome difficulties. “But when we become men we put away childish things!”

As a man or let’s say, as a person we have to rely on ourselves to make the right choices. Sometimes this is not easy because we live in a turbulent society and are faced with so many challenges that distracts us; it is hard to do the right thing at times and stay focus.

We have a society that seem to have lost its morals and are determined to be its own judge and jury.  To be a part of a civil society we must come to grip with the law and ethics and other things that is around us. For instance, how do we as men stand up for ourselves in the midst of a society that seeks to control even the morals essence of human dignity? We have to become strong men in tough times!

Time is slipping away; we are being controlled by those who control the media and are setting the standard that seems to govern our society. Do you ever wonder why we have so much senseless crimes in our society? It is because of our moral decay! When those who are trusted with the responsibility to make a change decide to be silent, then the wheels of degradation and distress will continue to turn and it is anyone’s guess where the motor will stop next.

The question is: Decisions; is it yours to make?

When making a decision it is the choice between possible actions. With that decision is a choice; the selection between two or more objects. Decision making can be regarded as the mental processes resulting in the selection of a course of action among several alternative scenarios. Every decision-making process produces a final choice. The output can be an action or an opinion of choice. Some people will tell you I did not take part so I did not make any decision. To that I would say you are mistaken because even your silence produces result and often it is one that you will not like.

We often complain about the ills of our society; too many gun violence and murders and we say why someone doesn’t do something about it! Do you remember the last time you had the opportunity to make a difference? What did you do? Stand on the sideline and hope for the best? If we are going to help change our society we have to do so block by block one neighborhood at a time but we will have to make that decision to take part.

I often wonder why gang violence is so prevalent. What are the cause and the cure for such behavior! First what is a gang?

A gang is a group of recurrently associating individuals or close friends with identifiable leadership and internal organization, identifying with or claiming control over territory in a community, and engaging either individually or collectively in violent or other forms of illegal behavior. The fact as I have stated, these are decisions that have been made those decisions have produced evil consequences; we all have to live with them. The decision is ours to make and the time is now. Don’t be on the side-line and wait until it’s too late. The decision is your to make!

Just recently we heard of another innocent victim that killed. What is the reason you may ask! The thing is, Gang members typically have to prove their loyalty by committing acts such as theft or violence; this might be the cause for such innocent killings. Again I must state that the decisions are ours to make. We cannot be on the sideline and hope for the best. One day it might be too late and the effect might be staring you in the face with grief and pain leaving you with the question; why me?

Decision making regardless to whether you like to or not, it’s yours to make! It is critical that we make good decision. Gang leaders have to make critical decision. However wrong,  those who follow are subjected to his decision. Decision making is an essential leadership skill. Therefore learning how to make timely, well-considered decisions can lead your team to well-deserved success. If, however, you make poor decisions, your time as a leader will be brutally short.

As a leader you must have the leadership skills necessary to guide your team to success. How good is your leadership skill? First, are you willing to be led? If you are, then it will be easy to lead. This is critical in determining your style of leadership. Remember we are talking about decision-making! Therefore you have to understand how to handle power effectively.

I know that I can continue to state more facts of interest but I just want to stir your mind to stop and think. Yes! Decisions are your to make so stand up and be counted before it is too late!

When silence is not golden

Silence is the lack of audible sound. It is a moment of low intensity or the absence of communication. In silence we can communicate with body language which includes gesture that is being interpreted by anyone that is in connection with the sender. It is a very important factor in sending messages through rituals and other non-verbal gestures.

Within our society the right to silence is a legal protection enjoyed by people undergoing interrogation by qualified authorities. We are all able to exercise these rights; it is something we obtain as citizens of a free community. “You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can be held against you…”

If we were to examine silence in spiritual turns, it can be disturbing. It was said that God was silence for a period of four hundred years. In those moments the people of Israel was without a true guide and because of this they were left in bondage and mistreated by their wicked task master.

In spirituality silence is often a metaphor for inner stillness. When there is a silent moment you tend to free yourself from the onslaught of thoughts and patterns which is important in spiritual development. Such silence is not the absence of sound it is to bring you in contact with the creator and put Him in focus so that you can develop a closer relationship.

We all can agree that silence is a powerful force. It can produce profound emotions or startling sensory experiences. In today’s world of media saturation silence seems to have become a scarce commodity. There is no limit to the rhetoric and the sound that is drowning out our conscience in making decision that affect our society.

I am tending to look more closely at the word silence because there are times when silence is not golden. Let’s check the dictionary to look at some of the definitions. Although I can find various definitions, I will choose one that I feel fits my reason of expression. This is “Refusal or failure to speak out.” The time to speak out is times when we are compel to go against oppression and excessive human behavior.

Just recently we were all heartbroken for the children of that senseless gun violence. How long do we have to sit back and wait for more of this tragedy to happen? The time is now to break our silence and let it be known that enough is enough. Children should not have to go through this tragedy. It’s time to break the silence and let it be known; we will not sit and wait for this to happen again. The time for action is now so let not your silence be golden.

R.I.P the End of a Civil Society

Are we “One nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all?”

Half a century ago, at the height of anti-Communist fervor, Congress added the words ”Under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance. It was a petty attempt to link patriotism with religious piety, to distinguish us from the godless Soviets. But after millions of repetitions over the years, the phrase has become part of the backdrop of American life, just like the words ”In God We Trust” on our coins and ”God bless America” uttered by presidents at the end of important speeches. (N.Y. times)

In today society it has become the melting pot for moral decay and decadence. We are now faced with the rottenness of a so call society that would cause the death of the already dead! The question is; how did we as a nation come to this brink? Look at what is happening even at this moment when our society is said to be more civilized. We have more people with degrees than at any other time in the history of this nation yet we are more morally bankrupt.

Just in case you might be wondering, I am not commenting on things politically; that will be for another time and place. I must say that the standard of leadership and the corruption is clear and hard to ignore. Therefore I must conclude that this is truly: R.I.P the end of a civil society. It is the thing that causes great nations to fall.

When I was a child it was said; manners and behavior will take you anywhere in the world. This is a far cry from those days when folks respected each other.

Respect for authority has been thrown out of the window and everyone is being governed by their own ideals. Is this the place we thought it would be in a moment like this? Respect for authority is at an all time low. It is so clear in the media; we look at it as a new norm. It is disgusting and rude and there is no other way we should describe it! Let us as a nation get back to the art of respect and for the ideals that this great nation was built upon! Don’t be afraid to stand up for what is morally right without intruding on the rights of others. Give respect where respect is due. Let us stay true to our motto, “One Nation under God.”

Happy thanks giving and may God bless us all as a nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all!
