Discipline is the art of commitment to an idea or purpose; it is being able to stay focus in spite of distractions. In oder to achieve a goal or purpose there must be commitment, such commitments takes discipline. Discipline (Dis-cip-line: disconnect from a line of distraction. This is my interpretation!) seems to be a simple innocent word but when we examine the complexities of the word in it’s truest form, we have to agree it is not as simple as it seems. Let’s see how the dictionary describes discipline. “It is the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience.” I am not sure I like that explanation because it seems to put you in a very confined opinion or imagery. I think it is a form of self control imposed on oneself in order to achieve specific goals.

Discipline is action or inaction that is regulated to be in accordance with a particular system of governance. It is commonly applied to regulating human and animal behavior. However, as individuals we are given the task of self governance, how we achieve our tasks depends on our priority and our level of urgency with regards to what we hope to achieve. It is said, “people with a higher degree of self-control spend less time debating whether to indulge in behaviors that are detrimental to their health, and are able to make positive decisions more easily. They don’t let impulses or feelings dictate their choices. Instead, they make level-headed decisions. As a result, they tend to feel more satisfied with their lives.” If you happens to be one of my type of people this does not sounds far fetched. It can be cultivated as a way of life. You might call if ridged but it takes a lot of energy and self determination to stay focused.

To make it to the goal of self discipline there are things you can do that will help in your endeavors. Knowing your weaknesses is very important for your success. What is it that tends to pull you away from your tasks or goals that you have set. This is where I would begin to make changes. Determine what your priorities are and determine to reach them. Crowd out any distractions that tends to interfere and make the decision to stick to the set goal. There will be times when it seems impossible but believe me, it is not! Just stick to the plan! You will always get those who are willing to condemn you for your rigidity but remember it is you who stand to gain from what you will achieve. At the end those who condemn you will compliment you. I have been there!

Acknowledge your shortcomings, whatever they may be. No man is an island, we need each other. There is no need to pretend, we are all vulnerable. Own your flaws; that’s a way to overcome, however, there will always be flaws. Today there are many things that will take you away from your set plans but you have to determine to resist temptation. As the saying goes, “ out of sight out of mind.” If it is a distraction, remove it! The fewer distractions you have, the more focused you will be towards accomplishing your goals. Set yourself up for success by removing bad influences. It is true in life and relationships.

Being able to set clear goals and having an execution plan helps in being disciplined. Have a clear vision of what you hope to accomplish; understand what success means to you. It’s easy to lose focus if you don’t know where you are going! We have all heard stories of successful people but can you imagine the discipline it took for those who achieve it! A clear plan guides you through each step you must take to reach your goals. Failure is not an option, however, only discipline will get you to the finish line.

One more thing I would say about discipline, it demands willpower. This is not something you were born with, you have to practice and develop it over a period of time. This takes lots of work! In life I would say, nothing is impossible; if you can imaging it, you can achieve it. Be disciplined!

I am a firm believer in the integrity, ability, or character of a person. Therefore having confidence or reliance in trying to gain someones’ trust; believing that our friend or love ones are telling the truth is vital to the act of bolstering that trust. The truth is, confidence and an unwavering belief in someone or something is vital to the wellbeing of any relationship. However, if you lose that trust, it is sometimes impossible to regain. How can we trust someone we do not know? That is a question we must ask ourselves, however, faith especially in a day when it is hard to do so is a vital component to be develop. Our words use to be our bond but that has been thrown out the window. Can anyone blame society for this? Folks are no more reliant and their words don’t mean much anymore. It’s difficult to grapple with this thought but it is true.

Trust is a symbol of faith. At least that is what I believe! When you trust you have confidence in: you rely on: and your heart is at ease with the decisions you make. The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and learn not on your own understanding.” The infallible words of God. That’s one thing we can rely on and give total confidence in. He knows humanity and knew his creation was going to confronted with the trust issue. To have trust, reliance and acknowledgment is the key to overcoming the fear we all face in trusting.

The condition and resulting obligation of having confidence placed in someone or something is what we call trust. Naturally when you trust you are not afraid to give custody of or care for a person or thing. You become committed to the care of another. Can you trust without reliance on something or someone in the future? That’s a big one but we have the hope that what we trust for will be accomplished. We have confidence that the future will be better. Trust gives us a sense of reliance on the intention and ability of a person to do what was agreed to without wavering. Our future holds hope for a better tomorrow.

When trust is not forthcoming, we are forced to rely on other means. A relationship which causes the other party to faulter in their obligations creates mistrust that leads to a breakdown their commitment. You have the rights to give another person the entitlement to the benefit of doubts, however, when trust is lost everything becomes blurred and negative vibes starts to develop.

Trust implies depth and assurance of feeling that is often based on inconclusive evidence: Faith connotes unquestioning, often emotionally charged belief: “Often enough our faith beforehand in an uncertified result is the only thing that makes the result come true” (William James). Confidence implies a strong grounds for assurance. I trust that you were enlightened to some extent on what I want to say. Trust me!

Dare to leap

We have dreams of the future and what we want it to accomplish. However, sometimes it seems impossible that we would ever achieve our goals. It is normal to dream, it’s a part of our human design and development. Don’t get trapped with ambitions and ideas of what you want to become, rise up and move on; determination will help you to achieve your goals and dreams. No matter what might be in your way push past the obstacles and take the leap of faith into the unknown. You can make it; believe in yourself. Because you do not have the help needed to pull ourselves out of the straits you find ourselves in does not mean it is the end. The blame game is not an option, take a moment stop and look around; evaluate where you are and chart your course of action, make a new start. You can do it! For some it might be easier said than done but the key to moving from where we are depends on us. Just get up and take the leap of faith; never looking back at your past keep moving straight toward the top.

Motivate yourself. Understand your priorities in life and move with courage to accomplish what you set out to do. When you are self-motivated, you will be more organised, you will be a good time manager: skilled and have more self-esteem and confidence. These are important traits to develop, in doing so, it can help you to take control of many other aspects of your life. Taking the leap is no easy thing but being able to move the bar to the next level is important. When taking the leap, you have to be ready to act on opportunities when they presents themselves. Take chances peruse your goals but be ready for setbacks. Look at setbacks as opportunities to succeed. Have you ever heard the saying, “Failure is not final?” Be prepared to fail but be ready to get up and dust yourself off and move on. There are many who failed but never gave up; today they are living their dreams despite their many obstacles. Be motivated set benchmarks and the drive to achieve your goals, make improvements geared to meeting certain standards. If you can, get a coach. By all means do so, don’t give up on your dreams. Only those who are willing to take the leap will succeed.

Resilience is the key factor for success: having the ability to bounce back in the presence of adversity. The ability to cope with and rise to the inevitable challenges. Problems and set-backs you meet in the course of your life is no easy feat, however, we all have the ability to come back stronger than before. It is good to develop rational thinking. Never think that it is impossible to accomplish your goals. You might rely on different skills and draws on various sources for help but you can do it.

In writing this, I know that I am writing it to myself because it takes a whole lot of courage in the presence of fear to take the leap. Courageous people do feel fear, but they are able to manage and overcome their fear so that it does not stop them from taking action. Fear causes us to self check, ensuring that we are not overly-confident, that we take the appropriate actions. How do we manage this? We can train ourselve to manage our emotional response to fear, so that we manage it rather than it managing us.

I would like to tell you to take courage. The question is,What is Courage?
I am glad you ask! Courage is a virtue, bravery, a quality of spirit that enables us to face danger and pain without showing fear. We all know what we mean by courage or bravery as it is sometimes known. I learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. “The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” (Nelson Mandela)

The word of God says,” fear not little flock, it is your father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” With such promises why are we afraid? It’s time to take the leap and start on your journey to success. You can do it! Take the leap!!

What a wonderful world

I woke up this morning and gazed out my window looking at the atmosphere; it is covered with a tint of grey. A contrast from the bright and sunny mornings we have come to expect for a normal day in what we call the Sunshine State. However, I look at the shaking of the trees and twigs as it swayed by a slightly flowing breeze; it reminds me there is life, nature and the existence of a creator. It is a moment to ponder and a time to reflect on the beauty of nature and all it holds. The wonder of creation and the existence of a God who creates a world out of nothing bringing it into focus as time evolves and slowly passes away. All of it’s intricate details; things that still hard for the human mind to comprehend, never a dull moment if you stop to meditate and reflect on your every blessings . Truly His ways are past finding out His awesomeness is beyond explanation. There is nothing to be compared to the wonder of creation!

The Psalmist points out “The heaven declares the glory of God and the firmament shows His handy work.” Who could have caused the earth to hung in space, give men the knowledge to discover the great unknown and venture into space where they can discover the great cosmos? There are many doubters to his handy work but that does not stop him from preforming his duty of keeping the world in order despite the unthinkable deeds of men. It is said “ Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing.” Even when they took council against him they will always stumble and fall. He who sits in the heaven laugh. He looks at their ignorance and laugh!

Consider the universe and all of it’s beauty, think of the air we breathe, the water we drink and all the provisions that is afforded us. We have no need to worry about the future but we do. However it is time to stop and consider the wonderful world we have been given, a place to procreate, a place of wonder and a place of hope. Even when it seems that things aren’t working for you, he is always doing something working on your behalf.

I can’t help but take a moment to reflect on the words of a song I love dearly. “I see trees of green, and red roses too. I see them bloom for me and you. And I think to myself what a wonderful world. I see skies of blue and clouds of white the bright blessed day, the dark sacred night and I think to myself what a wonderful world. The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky are also on the faces of people going by. I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do. They are really saying I love you. I hear babies crying, I watch them grow. They will learn much more than I’ll ever know. And I think to myself what a wonderful world.” Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Beyond the wonders of human understanding and the mysterious science of human experiences the world stands as a fortress in its place of existence. It was only a word that spoke it into existence and called all of it’s galaxies to combine into one true moment of creation. A wonderful world where no man needs to lack in love and self fulfillment, a place of rest until human tried their hand at perfection only to mess things up trying to be in control.

Once again a day is coming when all of God’s creation will become perfected, when He calls his children home and a cleansing begins. The wrongs will be made right, darkness will be no more and peace will govern this universe. The Lion will lay down with the lamb and we will be forever in the presence of the Son. That will truly a wonderful world!

How about me

Looking back at the years passed, there were lots of memories that capture ones mind just like an old Kodak camera with its self developing films you wait for a moment until the image appears. In those moments of tense emotion you wonder what the outcome will be. Nevertheless because you are a part of the process of development there is much joy as you are faced with the result of your undertaking. It might not be as great as you would like it but because it is the work of your own doing, it is treasured with a love and joy you welcome. As the tension the suspense is released a glow replaces any frown.

As the years pass you look back to the memories of those years and oh how quickly they seems to have passed. However, with much joy you remember your childhood; sometimes with joyful laughter or organizing pain. Whichever way it went, for you there were lessons learned and stories to be told. Our personal development started there in those seemingly lonely hour by the side of a grandmother or a mother who no matter how hard the times never gave up hope of a child who would one day become a King, a Priest, a President, Prime Minister, a Lawyer or someone great or extraordinary, one she would be proud to call son or daughter.

As the journey begun you were ushered into a space of uncertainty. The days were sometimes turbulent even though we were not aware. You were shielded from the moments of uncertainty and despair, the times of chaos. We were carefree young and wild! We eat anything our hands could catch not fearing diseases or any other sicknesses, we were strong! We played outside from sunrise to sunset. There were no need for alarm because we were looked after by our community; we were every mothers child or children every child’s niece or nephews. Oh how great those days were!

I remember the times we became entrepreneurs even at an early age. We had the foresight to see the needs of our pairs and sought to fill it. If you were a little smart, you devised ways to tap into those areas of lack and capitalize on those moments. We did not have the money to buy toys so we made our own. For those who were not as talented or gifted, we used those opportunities to our advantage. We build and they brought; the cash flow though challenging begun but it was a secret. The banks were the grandmothers secret statch. How could anyone know about it except the manufacturer, supplier and the vendor? To give away this secret connection was an act of treason. Tension would run high and we would be branded as other than… our pairs would ridicule us for our undertaking. The customers knew how to flow leaving the skeptics to wonder; never revealing the sources of our funding.

The me was us, and the them times were ours. Distance were never a problem and the Journey though sometimes great, we persevered. We played we fight we get up dust off and continued on our journey. Malice did not last long because we would turn our pain into laughter as a community of children brought up to understand the strength of a community is knitted in love for each other. If you were hungry the neighbors were there. Their food were our food and when we were filled we went out side to start the episode of playing again. We were told, “ manners and behavior would take you to the world.” Respect was a must, we had to respect our elders no matter who they were or where they came from. They had the rights to give you a whopping if you were disrespectful. Please don’t go home and complain; it would become double for your trouble.

Who or what we would become were carved out of those moments. Though we did not know it then, those were times of training that would propel us into adulthood. Looking back, I see the trails that each person followed. Today most have become and is living out the potentials they displayed in those early years. This is the answer to “What about me?” The story of us is the seed that was planted and it continued to grow and have become garden of hope for others to follow. My wish is for us to see clearly and avoid the pitfalls and traps that is before us as we walk this journey through life.

The story might not be completed, it is a story of grace and mercy of truth and justice of sorrow and pain but who would have imagined the trails we would follow in our short time in space as we walk this big blue marble of earth. We are encompass in times and seasons of change however, we will look back in appreciation of the moments given by the ones who loved and cared for us. It shaped our future and gave us reason for living. We did not have a lot but we had just enough. Thank God for the things we went thought and the lessons learned. As I look back, I can truly say, it takes a village to rear a child. I might have asked how about me, may I ask how about you? Reflection is the strength of perception a guiding light for the future.

For better or worse, what will it be?

We are entering into a new era; one that will define who we are as a nation and a people, one that will test the strength and will of our leaders resolve. The stage has been set and all the actors are in place; it is time for the first act to unveil. As we sit to watch and listen for the prologue, we have to make the move as maestro conducting the orchestra deciding who will win the Grammy for a great gesture of performances. At this moment in time, this is where we are. Standing at attention agonizing in pain for a nation that is in decline. The ring is stretched to its limit, it’s only a matter of time before it breaks from the impact of the punch. Though it might seems jovial, it’s time to take a close look and examine ourselves. Everything is in a tail spin and getting fast out of control. I feel like saying stop this world, I want to jump off. The plunge is too deep and I am afraid that if we take the leap, we will never survive from the impact.

What will we tell the next generation? Moments lost is a moment that has undermine the future for the coming generation. We are aware of the double jeopardy we face yet leaders of illusion and delusions are trading our history turning it into the romances of medieval times. Examples are before us, we don’t need a vision to see and understand from history. Look at those who once dominated the world; they are now so far from the dominance they once enjoyed; civilized society looked back in amazement and asked how could it have happened. We are at the threshold of the very same moment when they sit idly by thinking it would never happen but alas, the world changed leaving then in chaos wondering down the slivers of history in bitter tears. Power can corrupt absolute power when it goes unchecked. We need a role model that will be a mentor for for our society. I fear for my grand children and the future they are coming up against. What can we do to capture a lockless monster that has been running wild trying to capture big foot while burning the forest trying to understand the times and moments in history. We are running out of options; all signs are pointing to disaster with an environment that is posting signs of distress. This concert is coming to a climax leaving the audiences it has sought to warn without success.

This is the way we go, fa-la-la-la-la. The new has come and the old is now behind. What will we do to set the stage for success in the coming months? These are times for deep heart searching. No time to lose, let all hands be on deck as we seek to guide this ship that is drifting for a quick sands.

Why are we shutting down a government with all it’s potentials for the sake of a wall? Are you now saying that a wall is more important than a people? Look at the millions who are being displaced, the damage being done to our economy; lost opportunities we will never regain and the families who will be left in distress. It is time for us to brace for an economic collapse because believe it or not, it is coming. We are all strangers in a strange land. We were brought here from somewhere else. Does that not make us all immigrants? So what’s the fuss? It seems you are only prevented from entering in if you are of a certain ethnicity while others are entering in freely. They are classified as others because of their close relationships. Shouldn’t we all be put on a ship and send back to our place of origin leaving the people we met here to live in peace?

So you want to create a perfect society: what will it be when all others are gone? Who will do your dirty work; cook your food and look after your children? You have no idea what it is to have a perfect society! Will you be sick or die of a broken heart when you realize the significance of your action; not being able to function? You depended upon us to find your shoes, clean your clothes and grow the food you need. Who will fill the gap of your illusions? Who will bring you back from the depths of despair for the lost you inflicted and the misery you will bear?

Wealth has been made from the back of those you called undesirable. We work long hours so your can relax in comfort while we suffer in pain. We will survive! You can break the limbs, break the branches but you will never be able to get rid of the roots. We were planted and have been buried deep into the fabric of this nation; there is no way to uproot us because we cannot be transplanted. Our pledge was to fight for freedom by giving our life blood to defend this nation; we have fulfilled our pledges but are now being given the boot. It is time for us to arise and open up our eyes to the monsters sitting at the table. Let freedom ring down like rain and justice rise as the dust of the earth!

Visionary leaders

In the world we live in it would be difficult to imagine a world of leaders who could not foresee the role they play in shaping the functions of human behavior. Leaders must stand up as defenders of what is right even when it is unpopular; they have to be able to stand alone when all hell is breaking lose around them. Be that as it may, to have leaders who are unprepared and show themselves to be novices only corrupts the positions for which were elected to serve. We need visionary leaders in this twenty first century who find it easy to do the right leading by example for for others to follow.

A visionary leader is respectful of his team members. He empowers them to come up with different ideas that will help the organization to succeed. They will feel empowered knowing that their opinions matters. Give them the power of self worth. In other words, what I am doing or what I am contributing to matters. It is comforting when you can see that you play a part in making a difference in people’s lives.

It is not difficult to understand that a visionary leader must do his best to inspire others to succeed. You might be popular within your scope of associates but how much are you able to motivate others into a rightful way of moving forward while maintaining the success they were promised? Your job is to motivate everyone to greatness even if they might not see as you see. They must want in some way to be a part of the catalyst for change not the path to destruction and deception.

A visionary leader should be a good communicator; be able to get his point of view across while maintains a good balance in leadership. They knows how to verbalize their dreams and goals and do so to their team. In this age of social media, it is never the smartest thing to always go to social media before having an audience with your team. Communication is not a one sided thing. He most be a good listener. It is great to always involve your team in helping to reach your milestone while advancing your dreams.

I find that visionary leaders are also charismatic leaders. They possess a special Majic that makes you want to move on their words. To always criticize the mistakes of others is to turn off those who would have otherwise be an asset to you. Many leaders fail for lack of lack of foresight and self control. A leader is a good organizer being able to see their own weaknesses and put the right person in place to fulfill the roles that you might not be able to fulfill. Visionary leaders are risk takers. Failing to take risk can sometimes lead to failure. There are times when you have to stop thinking and get to doing even when you are all alone in your decision. Others might not always see what you see and they are alway skeptical of the move you make however, staying on course and fulfilling your purpose will help to convince them of your intents. Sometimes you have to gamble and take the risk in order to advance the cause.

Be strategic in your planning. Look at the market and the trends and be able to move at the right moment even when it is unpopular to do so. Define where the organization is headed and stay the course. You cannot be afraid to take risk. The good book say,“he that always observe the seasons will not sow.” Ignore the season and plant your seed even in bad times then when things turn around your will be the first to capitalize on the increase. Put things in place to give you the truss forward in success. In other words create an action plan for success. A visionary leader is willing to delegate responsibility. They do not think that they have to do it to get it done. They must possess trust in their team and realize its a team effort; if one succeed all succeed but if one fail, all bears the responsibility for failure.

Finally I saw he that observe the season will not sow and therefore, is not in the position to reap. The trends you set today will determine your success or failure tomorrow. Be a visionary leader and help others become great! Visionary leaders: inspire, motivate and give guidance and hope . They’re meaning makers. Happy twenty nineteen! Be motivated to to take the leap and jump to success!
