The road ahead; Is there hope for tomorrow

As I sit and reminiscence about the past and look to the future, I look with hope for a brighter tomorrow despite the challenges that is ahead. The dust has settled on the past year; soon we will forget the moments, the challenges and the tragedy. We have survived the pain and heartbreaks the most difficult moments with its up’s and down. Let us not forget who it was that guided us through moments of despair. History will mark the year and all its highlights. We will see these times as moment with different points of view but the one thing for which we will be grateful, we were part of those historic moments.

God has given us a mandate; we cannot think with a narrow mind or look through a tiny microscope because this universe is too large to ignore. I am not about to make New Year’s resolution because they never work even when you try. My question is, are there hope for tomorrow; is there anything hopefully to look forward to? It depends on your outlook on life! Think of where you want to be and set goal to reach them. Things will not change by thinking alone you must plan, create strategy and find ways to implement your plans. We are all procrastinators and before you know it time will pass and we will look back and wonder what has happened. Work with urgency to fulfill those goals make this effort part of your daily breathing habit.

It was just yesterday I was thinking that I was the youngest in my group but today as I look back I have graduate to the top of the class wondering how did I get here; now I am the one they are calling old. Is this true? What is oldness it is just a season by which we have graduate to someone more meaningful with so much more to offer. One thing is for sure we are smarter and wiser and we have the experience and the foresight to see far into the future.

Is there hope for tomorrow? Yes, there is! The government and the politician may let us down, things might not have turned out the way we thought but there is hope and there is safety in unity. The struggle has begun, let us not be side step by empty promises; we have already seen the trends that is set. Join the struggle and come together to fight for our future, our children and our grandchildren they are the ones who is inheriting the mess that is going on. However, we need not worry because God has it all in control. The word is: “don’t worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for today is the evil there of. Don’t worry be happy!

With that said, yes there is hope for tomorrow. We who have hope beyond this present moment will one day graduate and be at peace forevermore. We have a mandate and that is to spread love even in the face of hate. No matter the circumstances, let us give love a chance!

Decisions; is it yours to make?

When I was a child I thought as a child but when I became a man I put away childish things! This is what we were thought or expect to happen but it might not be always the case. I know that this is already a bit controversial. However I would like to play with your minds for a while and cause you to think seriously about this.

As a child you are controlled by your parents or guardians. We depend almost entirely on them for help in making the right decisions. When we go wrong they are there to correct us and help us to overcome difficulties. “But when we become men we put away childish things!”

As a man or let’s say, as a person we have to rely on ourselves to make the right choices. Sometimes this is not easy because we live in a turbulent society and are faced with so many challenges that distracts us; it is hard to do the right thing at times and stay focus.

We have a society that seem to have lost its morals and are determined to be its own judge and jury.  To be a part of a civil society we must come to grip with the law and ethics and other things that is around us. For instance, how do we as men stand up for ourselves in the midst of a society that seeks to control even the morals essence of human dignity? We have to become strong men in tough times!

Time is slipping away; we are being controlled by those who control the media and are setting the standard that seems to govern our society. Do you ever wonder why we have so much senseless crimes in our society? It is because of our moral decay! When those who are trusted with the responsibility to make a change decide to be silent, then the wheels of degradation and distress will continue to turn and it is anyone’s guess where the motor will stop next.

The question is: Decisions; is it yours to make?

When making a decision it is the choice between possible actions. With that decision is a choice; the selection between two or more objects. Decision making can be regarded as the mental processes resulting in the selection of a course of action among several alternative scenarios. Every decision-making process produces a final choice. The output can be an action or an opinion of choice. Some people will tell you I did not take part so I did not make any decision. To that I would say you are mistaken because even your silence produces result and often it is one that you will not like.

We often complain about the ills of our society; too many gun violence and murders and we say why someone doesn’t do something about it! Do you remember the last time you had the opportunity to make a difference? What did you do? Stand on the sideline and hope for the best? If we are going to help change our society we have to do so block by block one neighborhood at a time but we will have to make that decision to take part.

I often wonder why gang violence is so prevalent. What are the cause and the cure for such behavior! First what is a gang?

A gang is a group of recurrently associating individuals or close friends with identifiable leadership and internal organization, identifying with or claiming control over territory in a community, and engaging either individually or collectively in violent or other forms of illegal behavior. The fact as I have stated, these are decisions that have been made those decisions have produced evil consequences; we all have to live with them. The decision is ours to make and the time is now. Don’t be on the side-line and wait until it’s too late. The decision is your to make!

Just recently we heard of another innocent victim that killed. What is the reason you may ask! The thing is, Gang members typically have to prove their loyalty by committing acts such as theft or violence; this might be the cause for such innocent killings. Again I must state that the decisions are ours to make. We cannot be on the sideline and hope for the best. One day it might be too late and the effect might be staring you in the face with grief and pain leaving you with the question; why me?

Decision making regardless to whether you like to or not, it’s yours to make! It is critical that we make good decision. Gang leaders have to make critical decision. However wrong,  those who follow are subjected to his decision. Decision making is an essential leadership skill. Therefore learning how to make timely, well-considered decisions can lead your team to well-deserved success. If, however, you make poor decisions, your time as a leader will be brutally short.

As a leader you must have the leadership skills necessary to guide your team to success. How good is your leadership skill? First, are you willing to be led? If you are, then it will be easy to lead. This is critical in determining your style of leadership. Remember we are talking about decision-making! Therefore you have to understand how to handle power effectively.

I know that I can continue to state more facts of interest but I just want to stir your mind to stop and think. Yes! Decisions are your to make so stand up and be counted before it is too late!

Challenges; how do you cope?

As we embark upon a New Year we have no doubt already rethought the strategies of the pass year and are looking to dive into the New Year. If it was this simple it would be just a breeze proceeding through the time capsule of the future. However as we face new challenges and the road ahead become entangled with the worries and the cares of this life we must trust someone to help guide us through. This is not the time when you want to think that all you need is self reliance!

We have already been confronted with a challenge of the future as we face the thought of rising taxes and ever fluctuating prices at the pump and at the grocery stores. For many of us it will be a question of; where do we go from here? These are the many challenges we face on our journey through time and space.

How do we face or cope with challenges? No doubt many have already asked this question and for many there are no real answers. However we cannot just thumb it through life and expect to reach a destination for which we are ill prepared.

I have seemed folks who you would look up to thinking that they have it all together only to realize that their lives as you see them now are miserable failures. What went wrong you might ask? This is a question that I have always asked myself as I search for answers.

In this life there are many challenges but finding a way to cope is challenging of itself. I would recommend for anyone who find themselves in this inevitable situation. (a) Identify your strength and weaknesses and look at ways to get help before it’s too late. I don’t think that this is too hard a thing to do especially if we take the time to evaluate our lives. Many folks go through life making the same mistakes and never seem to create a check list of their behavior.

Get organize, make plans and set goals that are reasonable to carry out. This is not to say that if you are organized that there won’t be stress in your life. We all are face with challenges more often than not. But I believe that if you have a strategy in place, it will be easy for you to cope with the challenges as they surface. Be reasonable with yourself; face the challenges as they come, don’t run from them even when it is difficult to cope.

In business we analyze and take stock. I don’t know of any reason we cannot apply the same principles to our lives. Look at the SWOT plan that is adopted. SWOT is an acronym for Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. These are critical factors in accessing critical positioning therefore we can learn from these and apply the same to our lives. If we are to get ahead we will need to make adjustment to be ready for what is ahead of us. Why are you making such analogies you might ask? The idea is simple, if you don’t plan for life it will certainly plan for you!

To face challenges of the future, try changing your way of thinking. Your mind can play good tricks on you. If you foster negative thoughts, those thoughts can lead to stress and confusion and that’s not helpful. Cancel all negative thinking and seek to be with folk who will help to motivate you positively.

When I am confronted with challenging situation I like to relax and let the situation play out. Let your feelings go and most of all take a little time to pray; it will help!

Getting help is important when it is difficult to cope. Always remember that no man is an island and we should not seek to bear our burdens alone.
