Strangers in the land

More than four thousand years have passed since we heard of the story of a people displaced and their return into the land of promise. Since then things have evolved. However, strange things have set the tone for humanity to repeat the dark and dismal days of those unfortunate incidences. The moments in time when unrest and chaos ruled the nations in a world of turmoil and distress is upon us. No one seems to have recognized the trends that is leading us back to a place where tyrant once ruled. They were strangers in the land hoping for a new day and a new beginning. So many had hope for a brighter future apart from the hardship and turmoils they endured. Their displacement and feeling of despondency caused them to lose hope. The hope for a brighter tomorrow was clouded in despair. It seemed there was no way out of the traps which held them bound. However, as strangers they had a promise of new beginning.

As a people we have endured over four hundred years of slavery; the burden of injustice tried to break our spirit yet we live on. We were beaten and humiliated, families torn apart but just like dust we rose up from the trenches of anguish and despair; we bored the sorrow and pain hoping for change. Taken from the bottom of ships and sold to the highest bidder yet we live on. Where is the promise of sunshine, the light at the end of the tunnel? Those who profit from our misery are still enjoying the fruits of their ancestors while denying us a place and a purpose for us to grow unhindered. Time has crept up on us yet the dark voices of slavery is crying out from yonder graves; it’s a cry for freedom, a cry for a place we can turn to so that we will no more be strangers in the land of liberty a monument of hope placed on our shores. There are moments it seems we have cross the threshold of time but the cycle has never been broken and so we are here at the junction of injustice crying for mercy to capture us and set us free from the pain. Look at what we have done, look at where we are; we are at the precipice of extinction waiting to be rescued. We run for our lives from our tormentors yet shot from behind; dying in the streets and in the fields. Injustices rules a nation where color is the monopoly that determines who is right or who is wrong.

Time has past but we find ourselves where we started. They are placed in cages, in a holding cells ripped apart from their families, displaced in modern hell. Yet no one has the answers to where they are going. The turbulence of time and the moments of despair has returned to a people seeking refuge. They came to liberty but alas liberty is no more; it has closed it’s doors. The rulers of destiny has become inpassionate turning their back on those crying out for help. What or who have we become? Where has manifest destiny gone? Children are now living as strangers in the land not having an identity and no parents they can turn to. The story is too familiar; it is time we open up our eyes and see the similarities of the times. Are we creating an identity crisis just like times before when generations will be forever lost not knowing who they really are? Let those who are fighting to be elected put things into perspective and focus on reality of the moment rather than lining their pockets with wealth gathered from their empty promises. It’s time to stop the madness and have empathy for those who are strangers in the land.

This behavior is very similar to the times we were taken from our mother land. We were dispersed to every corner of the globe without compassion. Mothers lost their love ones, fathers lost their sons leaving us without an identity. We had no way to identifying who we really were, where we came from and the true roots of our ancestry. We were strangers in the land looking for a place to rest our weary souls. Although we have come this far, the question still remains: Are we heading for the mountaintop looking with anticipation hoping there’s sunshine when the dreams of tomorrow will bring a brighter day? Hate and violence is taking it tole while the flames of hate captures a nation led by an image made of Iron and Clay. Let’s put aside our indifferences and work towards the renewal of human dignity. Though the writing is on the wall, the interpretation can be words of success. It is time to live in peace and harmony instead of being “Strangers in the land!”

The Ant Generation

The ant is among the smallest creäture that is in existence today yet it is the one that is most wise. One that we can look at as we develop a vision for the future. This is not debatable because the evidence is all around us; all we have to do is see this tiny creäture at work. Take a look with me and see the awesomeness of this creäture and compare it to this generation and see the results!

I will stop for a moment and look at the Proverbs for some admonition. Solomon was the wisest king who ever lived. He talk to his son about the dangers that awaits him if he determines to neglect the instruction of his father or mother. He once said to him you are snared by the words of your mouth. Therefore when you come into the hands of your friend go humble yourself and deliver thyself from the hand of the hunter.

What does this have to do with the Ant Generation? The question is, how do you see yourself in lite of the trends that are consuming this generation and the fashion statements that are being made? How do you keep up with what’s going on?  Solomon is saying to us: Go to the Ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: There are lessons to be learned if we would give attention to the smallest creäture with a big agenda.

Looking at the Ant we see that they have no guide, overseer, or ruler. They provide their meat in the summer, and gather her food in the harvest. How do we stack up? Are we holding out our hand waiting for someone to give us help or do we get up and get to work to fulfil our purpose and worth? The question to this generation is, how long will you sleep you sluggard, when will you rise up out of your sleep?

Certainly this is not bashing, I am shedding some light on the one thing that we so often neglect in our pursuit for greatness and a secure future. Consider this, the Ant have no ruler and yet they work together for one common cause. No one is trying to usurp authority over the other, they don’t even have a guide yet they are making progress when it comes to unity and building a future they all can depend upon.

How do we mobilize this generation to adapt the structure and leadership capabilities of an Ant? As a generation drifting in the sea of dissolution, it is time to pull together for the cause of humanity and form a human bond that transcends culture race or creed. Stop for a moment and learn from that creäture so small and insignificant that many time we think it nothing to step on them, exterminate them charging them with destroying the thing we hold dear. However hard we try, they are resilient always coming back with greater forces.

Creatures of earth we can form a colony, create a guide and become overseers of our destiny! It is time to march, confront the evils of the time we live in. Because you might be the smallest and simplest does not mean that you are weak. When you form a colony you become strong because you are now multiples of many; that’s how the Ant makes progress. Watch them as they call for help to get the task accomplish; they do not fight each other, they combine their efforts to carry out the goal. It is time for us creatures of earth to become part of the Ant generation.

Consider this: Ant societies have division of labor, communication between individuals, and an ability to solve complex problems. Have you ever thought of this? Their ability to exploit resources have caused them to be in conflict with human society. We never seems to see the importance of the Ant and so because of this we tend to call for the exterminator while destroying the very creäture sent to help us cope with the conquest of mother earth. However Ants perform many ecological roles that are beneficial to humans, including the suppression of pest populations and aeration of the soil.

Leaders of this Ant generation let us come together helping to navigate the course and the direction we take as we mobilize the masses to take action for a brighter future where we all live as one under the umbrella of love in a society of trust without social unrest. Now is the time for corporation not competition. As an Ant generation a people of hope and future possibilities let industriousness play a role among us as we cultivate society to take on the responsibility of togetherness amidst social unrest. Are a part of the Ant Generation?

Just What Are You Saying?

It is incredible to think that for more than eight and a half billion years this universe has been in existence without us realizing that the environment has lost its most important elements and are now rotating in the wrong direction. It has fast become a myriad of social injustice and behavioral malfunction that causes the essence of belonging to overtake the vision for scientific advancement.  With this said, I am just trying to grab your attention to the effect of words spoken or words written. Thou it sound very sophisticated the question is, Just what am I saying?

Words are important; it is all we hear every day. We become over whelmed by what we hear; words have the power to create an environment that will change the course of history. Your words create impressions. It says something about the one speaking. It is often misunderstood, ridiculed and ignored; as a result it creates barrier to wholesome dialogs.

Words carefully chosen will do wonders: they will get folks caring about the things we care about, crying with emotions or laughing senselessly at jokes meant to cheer us up. The power of words can make us fall in love; soothe our aching hearts. Trades are made through contracts and persuasion. It is the way we reach out to those we target when we want to accomplish our goals. The power of words can build friendship or tear down emotions resulting in the creation of enemies; it can change the world and the course of history.

In light of this knowledge, have you ever asked yourself; just what am I saying? It is time to stop and think; it’s time to evaluate! The word says, “The power of life and death is in the tongue.” It is time to speak life not just to your neighbors but also to yourselves. Consider what you have said for the past year. Look at the result of what you have planted! Does it even bother you that what is happening in your life or relationship is a direct result of your own words? So I will ask once again: Just what are you saying?

I know this might be a strange topic to think about but it is something we all have to face every day. Remember the time when your confidence was at its peak? You spoke to yourself because you had a goal in mind; you could envision yourself accomplishing that goal. Why was it so? You spoke life into your situation and things happened. It might have surprised you but you spoke it and it came to pass. This was the power of words spoken.

Can I challenge you to think for a moment about the power of words? This world with all of its beauty was created with words. God said, Let there be light and it was so. He created this earth by speaking words and His words came to life and set things into motion. Similarly He has given us that ability to change our direction and to make a difference. Speak words of power over your situation and watch the result of the words you have spoken!

Do you remember that old adage: “Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can do me no harm?” Now that you have grown and reflect on the pass and what words have done: what do you think? Words create fear, anger, hurt and it makes you sad. Don’t be manipulated by words work through the clutter and speak over the voices of hurt and fears.

It is incredible what words will do. You can take control of your destiny just by transforming your vocabulary; change the quality of life which in turn affects your environment. Don’t be a sadder (I don’t know if there is such a word but just remember that I made it up) or you will make everyone sad. Be a joy and a lightning rod and watch a fire of delight burn around you and the ones you associates with.

Finally I will stir your mind to think of the situation of Joseph when he was in prison in Egypt. Because of the words of one who sought to control his destiny he was placed into the prison cell; he did not lose hope. He continued to dream of the day when he would be release however that day seemed far away. Through providence he spoke into the lives of his cell mates and was eventually forgotten. His words stood the test of time when one day it was his time to speak again. He spoke life into dead situation and was placed into the highest position of power in the land. Those who did not want to hear him came bowing and begging all because of the power of words.

Please do not fail to realize that words have the power to create and affect attitudes, behavior, and perception. Therefore I will say to, words have meaning, but it has no power unless the perceived mental state of an individual gives power to the words spoken and is being been heard. I will say sticks and stones can break my bones but words can do great harm! Speak words of life and watch as things and situations transform.

Who is your daddy?

As I understand it, this was known as a hilarious quote by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop. It was used excessively in Arnold prank calls which can be quite hilarious. The term who is your daddy which derives from this usually is an expression of personal superiority to someone else or to emphasize a victory. (The Urban dictionary)

Who’s your daddy? Is a slang expression that, in one use, takes the form of a rhetorical question! It is commonly used as a boastful claim of dominance over the intended listener. The phrase itself stands out as a noteworthy lyric from the 1968 song “Time of the Season“, by The Zombies: “What’s your name? Who’s your daddy? Is he rich like me?” (Wikipedia)

Though it might sound hilarious and a bit thought-provoking, it might be wise to stop and really ask. “Who is your Daddy?” May I play with your pure and innocent mind a bit just to see if we can come to an understanding of whom we really are, where did we came from and our mission? It would seem impossible to think but who is really your daddy?

This is a question I looked at scornfully in the past because I never stop to think about it as a question that made much sense. The more I thought about it, I am seeing another side to this statement!

My daddy says: “Before I formed you I knew you and chose you for the purpose for which you were made.” Only your daddy could make such bold statement! Our daddy knows us because He had a part to play in our existence. Unlike other dads, we do always have a relationship. If we chose to be out of touch, that is no fault of his. He is always there ready to give us the help we need.

The way I look at it, we were born into a wealthy relationship but sometime because we choose to do our own thing we become estranged within the relationship. Why would I want to be out of touch with my dad when he has everything I need to survive? This is something we will never understand but we find ourselves in this situation anyway. We all claim to belong to the same father but we are sometimes dysfunctional. Dysfunctional because when you leave your estate someone else takes over and by the time we return, it is all infected by your “step dad.”

I will tell you who my daddy is! That is a bold statement but I am proud to call him dad. He took care of me and made sure I did not lack anything of importance for my survival. He always listens to my stories even when they don’t really make much sense! My daddy loves me and he calls me his friend. He will call you friend if you do what he commands.  The problem is you might claim him but you do not obey him; that is the real problem!

Your daddy is the one you cling or lay claim to. He is the one you obey and follow. How is he your Dad when you don’t respect him? Although He would like to claim you as his own, he likes to give you the choice to choose him. Think about this and answer the question; who is your Daddy? Is He rich like mine?
