United We Stand

We have seen it with our eyes and have heard it with our ears but some how we have remained deaf and blind to the ills of society and the power of a few. In a moment when it is fresh on our mind we become appalled until the glitter has passed and our memory become faltered then alas it’s a thing of the past. “Who cares? It is what it is.” That’s what they say! However, now is the time to change the narrative and stand united as one.

This is one moment in time when it seems the odds are weight heavily against everything we stand for and believe in. If history is our teacher, we can be assured what will make a difference in our circumstance is standing together lacking arms in moments of difficulties especially when we are most vulnerable. Standing together is not a cliche but a natural act of defense when one is under attack. Animals knows it; we see them sometimes standing their ground when being surrounded by predators who sought to advance upon them for the kill. If we are going to make it in this season of life, we have to take note of their strategies and come together as one force for good that will beat back the forces of darkness the evil that is among us.

In a tribe there’s a leader who leads by example. Unity is the only thing that will cause them to succeed; if there are discords the efforts of the whole will be weakened. This will cause the enemy we are fighting against to succeed in destroying the camp and everything we have been fighting to protect. When we form an alliance, strength is greater and our forces are stronger. Sometimes we might not agree with the whole philosophy of our opponent but if we are fighting the same foe, it makes sense to form an alliance for the common good of the tribe. Splinter group will never win; it takes one voice and a common cause to make the difference.

Don’t pull to pieces, pull together that’s the only way we are going to conquer. In times of slavery there were strategies to divide and conquer. By pitting one against another and choosing to give one a little bit of power they were able to keep the group subordinated. It is time to realize the tricks of masa and endeavor to learn from the mistakes of our past.

Unity is strenght, it is the basis of the forces we bear and the power we use to conquer while striving for a better ideal. It takes good leadership to steer people into the right direction. This is not something that is to be taken lightly. The world is looking for good leaders; they might not be great but they are willing to make the sacrifice for the good of the whole. People would rather follow a leader who is always real than a leader who is always right. Being right is not always the best thing but being real helps to define who we are. A leader should be able to feel what everyone feels and empathize with the same. It is not a “me one conquer day” moment; it is everyone lacking arms fighting together for the common good of all. In unity we stand strong holding the line of defence against intruders who seek to scatter and divide.

This is a moment when they are trying to divide and conquer. They say movements come and movements go while ignoring the cause and the purpose of the movements. It is easy to look at the world through a narrow lense when you are surrounded by privilege. Nothing makes scenes to you because even though you claim to be amongst us you will never be able to feel the pain we feel or bear the burdens we carry. It’s time to shut up and listen up because you have not been seperated from your ancestors and taken to a strange land where you were forced to work without pay and then mistreated and lynched while denying the rights of human dignity.

Today we stand together as a mighty force defying the norms of society in the fight for our freedom to live our lives with liberty and justice for all. We fougth for it but until now our rights are being denied. When we cry out under the burden of injustice we are told to shut up we are making too much noise. Until the world recognize the injustices and the inhumanity to man, peace will always evade us from now until eternity. If we can do anything to change the narrative let us fight as one people with one voice, one hope and with one posture. United we stand, divided we fall. You make the choice!
