The romance of yesterday with prospect for tomorrow

We often remind ourselves of the good old days of the past and how much fun they were. It is good to walk down memory lane even if it is just for a moment. We remember our childhood days and the things we did. The fiends we had some of whom are still around but have moved to different regions around the world. Some have taken the journey from time to their eternal destiny. May their souls “Rest In Peace.” Taking a stride down memory lane can be sometimes a joy to remember however, for some it brings to memory times of regret and frustration. Romancing the times spent remembering the good old days of yesterday should only be for a moment. Some like to live in the past forgetting that times has changed and are continually changing.

In times like these we cannot be complacent when it comes to changes. If we delay taking charge of the moment while only reminiscing about the years passed, it is inevitable that we could miss what is happening today in being equipped for the future. Technology is on a stride and there is no stopping it, the advances that are being made! No more the need for snail mail even though we still have it available. Email and other forms of digital communication is at our fingertips they are only a click away from reaching their intended target. Those who fail to get up to speed are simply being left behind with no way of catching up. There is no denying, we are not going back to what yesterday was even if we continue romancing the past.

You might ask, how did they make it and what was it like to be living back then? Every age has it’s challenges, every age has it’s new inventions and at every age they all asked the same questions. However, they lived in the moment and enjoyed the things that were available to them just like we are doing today. I remember listening to a friend relating a store about himself when he was a young adult. His father sent him to learn a trade building cart wheels (the wheels that was used on buggies; (Horse and Carts). Immediately after completing his apprenticeship and ready for work, cars were introduced into the country and most people did away with their horse and carts. This was a drastic turn for him. What was ahead for the future? He didn’t have much options, he had to refocus his life’s career. It is important that we stay in tune to the times we live in while educating ourselves for the times and the things that will be available to us in the future. Never say never, embrace the future and prepare yourself for success. To be independent is part of the key to being successful. Being able to maneuver with today’s technology is important to keeping in touch with reality. It is not wise to be on a fool’s errand and look down every new inventions.

Everything is evolving, work has been re-evaluated. It’s easier to work from home. It save time in travel and the annoying problems of being stuck in traffic for hours. However, not everyone will have the privilege to do so. With the help of zoom, webex and apps like skype and FaceTime, traveling out is sometimes virtually unnecessary. What would our parent think or do if they see what is happening in our world today? Who could have imagined that in just a few short years technology would be ruling the world as it does today. Romancing the past though it might be justifiable can be a drag on the future. Letting go of yesterday is important for moving to the future. We have worked hard to correct the mistakes and the limitations of the past by making stride to create new innovations for the future.

How we move forward is important for self development; the stage is set and the way though sometimes rocky is a platform for progress and innovation. It is time to set our sights on the way forward moving in direction to self sustainability and development. Though it might be a great thing remembering where we were, it is time to let go of the past, savor the moments of yesterday and the romance of the past and continue to prospect for the future.
